   A trip to the day spa is a perfect way to relax and spend the day! It is wonderful for people who need to take a break by themselves, or even a great way to spend time with friends and family. Many day spas offer packages for pampering yourself. Some even offer romance packages for couples to relax together. There are even packages available to spend time with your family (perhaps a special birthday) or with your friends (possible bridal shower idea).

   Every day spa has their own policies and etiquette. Please check with the spa you are planning on going to for their list  a specific guidelines. However most of them require the same things. Arrive early, most day spas request 15 to 30 minutes early. This will allow time for you to change into your robe and fill out any client forms. If you arrive late to your appointment, they still may be able to see you. However, you may only receive the time remaining for your treatment. This way the client after you will not be inconvenienced.  Leave valuable items at home. Most spas will not be held responsible for lost items. It is important to respect the other guests at the spa. Make sure that your cell phone is turned off or placed on silent. Children under a certain age are not allowed if not receiving a treatment. Gratuities should be given based on your personal satisfaction from the services received. Many spas also offer a referral incentive. Ask the day spa if they have a referral program and for more information.

   There are many different types of services at day spas. Talk to your technician to find out which service is right for you.

   - Facials are very popular. This involves cleansing the skin, removing dead skin cells, massaging the facial muscles, and hydrating the skin.

   - Massages are also very popular. A massage is a treatment that targets the muscles, tendons, joints, and aids the lymphatic system. The most common types of massage are the Deep Tissue, Swedish, Sports, Reflexology Massage, and Craniosacral Therapies.

   - Waxing removes hair from the root. The results can last for two to eight weeks. Common areas are on the face. Including Eyebrows, lips, and checks. Other common areas for waxing are the arms, under arms, legs, chest, back, and the bikini area.

   - Body treatments are a facial for your entire body. Common treatments are scrubs that exfoliate and massage the skin. Also masks and body wraps help to detoxify your metabolic system and hydrate your skin.

   Medical Spas are similar to a day spa. They offer treatments and facial. However, since they operate under the supervision of a licensed practitioner, these spas can offer additional treatments. Laser treatments can resurface cosmetic flaws such as wrinkles, acne scars, and sun damaged skin. Medical micro dermabrasions and medical peels can almost reverse any signs of aging. Plus they can also administer injections such as Botox, and Restylane.
